Chelsea Nears Deal with Borussia Dortmund for Jamie Gittens

Chelsea is on the verge of securing a deal with Borussia Dortmund for winger Jamie Gittens following talks during the Club World Cup in the United States, according to sources.

Bids Rejected, Negotiations Continue

Earlier this month, Chelsea had two bids turned down for the 20-year-old player during the special transfer window for the Club World Cup. Despite Dortmund's initial rejection, further negotiations have occurred with the German club holding out for a fee exceeding £50 million ($68m).

Player Performance and Club Progress

Gittens impressed with 12 goals in 48 games last season, with four goals in the Champions League. Meanwhile, Chelsea's recent 3-0 victory over Esperance de Tunis secured their spot in the Club World Cup round of 16, with Liam Delap scoring his debut goal for the team.

Manager Enzo Maresca expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, 'We need to be proud, we need to be happy [to make the knockout rounds].'.
