- Chelsea have agreed a deal worth €15 million to sign Mathis Amougou from Saint-Etienne, as sources confirm to ESPN.

Chelsea Secures Deal for Mathis Amougou

Chelsea Football Club has reached an agreement to acquire Mathis Amougou from Saint-Etienne for approximately €15 million ($15.5m), according to sources close to ESPN. The 19-year-old midfielder, who has been a regular in Ligue 1 for Saint-Etienne this season, is set to join Chelsea. It remains uncertain whether Amougou will immediately join the first-team squad or be sent on loan to Chelsea's affiliate club, Strasbourg. The transfer is expected to be finalized before the upcoming deadline. Reports from France suggest that Amougou may continue his development at Strasbourg, potentially requiring Chelsea to adjust their current loan arrangements to comply with regulations. Chelsea recently recalled striker David Fofana from Goztepe SK, indicating a possible reshuffling of loan players to accommodate Amougou. Amougou, a promising French youth international, made his debut for Saint-Etienne in 2023 and has appeared in 17 Ligue 1 matches this season. This move aligns with Chelsea's strategy of securing top young talents on long-term contracts with performance incentives.
