new delhi, india - A Canadian tourist was caught at the airport customs in New Delhi, the capital of India, with a crocodile skull in his suitcase. The tourist, who purchased the skull from Thailand, was detained by authorities.

A Canadian tourist, aged 32, was apprehended at the customs at the airport in New Delhi, the capital of India, for carrying a crocodile skull in his suitcase. The incident took place on Monday when the unnamed Canadian tourist was stopped during a security check at the airport while trying to catch his flight to Canada.

In a statement issued by the airport customs, it was stated, "Upon inspection, a skull resembling a crocodile's jaw with sharp teeth, wrapped in a cream-colored cloth, weighing approximately 777 grams, was found." The Canadian tourist was taken into custody, and the crocodile skull was handed over to the Forest and Wildlife Unit. It was reported that the tourist had purchased the skull from Thailand.

The Forest and Wildlife Unit confirmed that upon examination, the skull belonged to a species protected under India's Wildlife Protection Act, due to its tissue, tooth pattern, well-developed bony palate, and nasal openings, proving it to be a crocodile skull of a young specimen.

Last year, a 32-year-old Canadian woman, also a tourist, was detained at the New Delhi Airport after unidentified animal horns were found in her suitcase. The tourist claimed to have acquired the horns during a trek in the North Ladakh region as a souvenir.
