toronto - A 19-year-old Canadian student, Javeria, broke her jaw after attempting to bite a Jawbreaker candy, resulting in six weeks of liquid diet.

A Jawbreaker is meant to be licked, not bitten, as Canadian student Javeria learned the hard way. She bit into a large, hard candy ball and fractured her jaw in two places. As a result, she had to consume liquid food for six weeks.

Javeria Wasim, 19, and a friend bought 'the largest size Jawbreaker available' last month while shopping in their hometown of Toronto. The ball is at least 5 centimeters in size, with gum in the center. 'I said: we need to break it because people only lick it and then it takes months,' she said.

Now, she wants to warn everyone not to do that. 'I bit as hard as I could, but the ball didn't break. I only made a hole in it. Worse, I had an incredible sudden pain and could hardly move my jaws.'

Her friend initially thought her tooth was broken. However, at the hospital, they diagnosed a double jaw fracture.

The next day, Javeria had to undergo an hour-long surgery to reset her jaw. To allow everything to heal, she had to remain silent and couldn't chew for six weeks. 'So, I was restricted to soup and protein shakes. It had one advantage: I lost three kilograms.'
