ottawa - Canadian politician Doug Ford sends a clear message to Donald Trump in response to his recent remarks about wanting to 'annex' Canada to the US.

Canadian politician Doug Ford responded strongly to Donald Trump's recent remarks suggesting that he would like to 'annex' Canada to the US. Ford showed up in parliament in Ottawa wearing a navy blue hat with the message: 'Canada is not for sale.' The idea was inspired by Trump's own hat with the text: 'Make America Great Again.'

'We need to unite and we cannot allow President Trump to divide us. He is going to try to destroy our country, he is going to try to divide our country,' said Ford.

Trump had previously threatened to take back control of the Panama Canal and expressed intentions to buy Greenland. He believes that Panama is charging too high rates for American ships to use the important global trade route, which was built by the US and transferred to Panama in 1999. Trump also sees China's influence over the canal as a concern.

Trump did not rule out using military or economic power for both the Panama Canal and Greenland. 'We need Greenland for our national security,' he stated.

In the past, Trump has also made it clear that he would like to see Canada as the 51st state of the United States. According to him, the US is currently paying 200 billion dollars to protect Canada, while 'the United States needs nothing from Canada.' He would focus solely on economic sanctions to annex the country.
