- Women and children living in a refugee camp near Calais receive at the end of the week of heated tents to sleep in. The French minister Bernard Cazeneuve of the Interior wants the 6,000 refugees in the camp as protection against the cold that is coming up.
Cazeneuve was Wednesday visited the tent camp in the French port city. The camp has grown considerably in a short time. There is actually room for 3000 people, but in recent weeks the number suddenly doubled. To make sure everything runs smoothly, 460 additional police officers are deployed.
