Tragic Accident in Guatemala City

At least 51 people lost their lives in Guatemala City on Monday morning when a bus plunged from a bridge onto a bustling highway. The city's fire department spokesperson confirmed the tragic incident.

The bus was traveling on a busy route in and out of the city when it fell from Puente Belice, a highway bridge spanning over a road and a stream.

Social media footage shared by the fire department showed the bus partially submerged in water, surrounded by the bodies of victims.

Guatemala City's mayor, Ricardo Quinonez, took to social media to announce the deployment of emergency services and the traffic police's efforts to establish alternative routes in the affected area.
