Burning Iranian tanker sunk

shanghai - An Iranian tanker that caught fire on January 6 in the East China Sea after a collision with another ship, finally sunk Sunday. The ship, the Sanchi, went down quite suddenly around noon, reported the Chinese state television.

The Sanchi collided approximately 300 kilometers east of Shanghai on a cargo ship from Hong Kong. The last ship suffered little damage, but the tanker caught fire. Of the 32 crew members of the Sanchi, thirty Iranians and two men from Bangladesh, no one was recovered alive.

The ship was on its way from Iran to South Korea with a slight form of petroleum. The cargo could cause major environmental damage.
