A local politician in Switzerland faced a ransom demand of 1 million Swiss francs for his stolen dogs. The burglars left a ransom note while stealing the dogs from Wegmüller's apartment in Schlieren.

The successful rescue operation led to the recovery of the dogs in Poland, where the culprits were apprehended.
