brussels - In order to better address asylum and migration challenges, the EU Member States and the European Parliament must rapidly adopt a series of legislative proposals. The European Commission makes this call. According to Vice-President Frans Timmermans, this is 'essential for a sustainable and future-proof asylum and migration system.'
These include proposals for equalization of the rules for the reception of asylum seekers, the inclusion of fingerprints of migrants in a database, resettlement of recognized refugees and the extension of the European asylum agency.
