cardiff - A British environmental group associated with the Labour Party has advised creating dog-free zones as a way to make society more inclusive and anti-racist.

A recent advisory report to the Welsh government, linked to the ruling Labour party's aim to eradicate racism by 2030, suggests transforming 'all areas' of public life, including creating more dog-free zones in cities like Cardiff, although the exact reasoning behind this recommendation is unclear. Critics speculate that it may be related to making outdoor spaces more welcoming for minority groups from Africa and the Middle East who are not fond of dogs.

The climate group Climate Cymru is investigating 'racism concerning climate change, environment, and rural affairs.' Some voices from a community dialogue focus group expressed concerns about lack of respect for green areas in ethnically diverse communities and fear of discrimination based on racial or religious identity when visiting rural areas.

Another climate group highlighted existing barriers that prevent certain groups from freely enjoying outdoor spaces, attributing them to exclusions and racism. They also noted that activities like food cultivation in gardens are dominated by older white women, emphasizing the need for more diversity and inclusion.

Conservative leader Andrew Davies dismissed the recommendations as 'outdated nonsense,' criticizing them for being detached from the actual needs of the Welsh population. However, a government spokesperson reiterated their commitment to building an anti-racist nation.
