Bridegroom requests divorce after a quarter of an hour

dubai - Even before the wedding could start, a groom from Dubai decided to cancel the wedding. He had already given his yes, but his father in law threw a spanner in the works.

The two were arguing about money on the usually romantic day. The father of the bride would pay the wedding, but asked his son-in-law for a contribution of no less than 23,000 euros. Immediately transferring that amount became difficult, but he could already pay 11,000 euros. He would hand over the rest after the wedding.

Immediately after the marriage documents were signed, however, Schoonpa thought it was time for his new son-in-law to come over the bridge with the remaining 12.000. The newly-married man asked his father-in-law to wait so that he could collect the money. But his father-in-law wanted to. The groom had to stay inside and let a friend bring the money.

The groom felt so 'humiliated and insulted' by his wife's father that he decided to have the marriage dissolved immediately, his lawyer reports to Gulf News.

A marriage of 15 minutes is not the short marriage ever in the United Arab Emirates; in 2012, a couple separated after a few minutes after the bride indicated she would not want to give up her job.
