Brentford Owners Acquire Spanish Club Mérida

Brentford's owners, Best Intentions Actions, have finalized the acquisition of Spanish third-division club Mérida. The club, currently fifth in the Primera Federación standings, was founded in 2013 after the dissolution of Club Polideportivo Mérida.

In a statement, Brentford chair Cliff Crown expressed the importance of respecting Mérida's history and identity. He is set to become Mérida's club president, ensuring the project continues while maintaining the foundations of the club's previous work.

Brentford was previously part of a multi-club system with FC Midtjylland until 2023. The integration of Mérida into this well-established football structure is seen as a significant step, confirming the club's progress and future development, according to Mérida general director Alejandro Pérez Robles.
