brasilia - The Brazilian prosecutor has filed a complaint against agricultural minister Blairo Maggi. In 2009 he would have been involved as a governor in corrupt practices in the state of Mato Grosso.

Maggi would have paid a judge from a local court to take early retirement so that an escort from Maggi could take his post. The henchman is also being persecuted.

Maggi denies the accusations, writes the Ministry of Agriculture in a press statement.

Many corruption investigations are ongoing against many Brazilian politicians, including sitting ministers, former presidents and congressmen.

Former President Luiz InĂ¡cio Lula da Silva was sentenced to 12 years in prison in January. Still, he conducts the polls for the elections later this year in the politically divided country.
