Bolsonaro wins presidential elections Brazil

brasilia - Conservative populist Jair Bolsonaro has won the presidential elections in Brazil. That has been announced by the Brazilian electoral council. About 97 percent of the votes were counted, with 55 percent going to the former military, reports the BBC.

Bolsonaro is thus well ahead of his left-wing challenger, Fernando Haddad of the Workers' Party (PT). The former mayor of São Paulo received 45 percent of the votes. In total, approximately 147 million Brazilians were allowed to cast a vote.
