amsterdam - Horrified animal lovers reacted when they saw the images of orca Morgan would undertake a suicide attempt in her shelter, the Loro Parque on Tenerife. But none of that is true, claims Javier Almunia, environmental director of the Spanish zoo.

'It is ridiculous and absurd,' Almunia responds to the global commotion. 'There is no scientific evidence that could commit an animal suicide. It's just some crazy behavior, but that is perfectly normal. 'In one of the videos, taken by visitors, is to see how orca Morgan minutes on dry land lies. Animal Activists interpret this as suicidal behavior. But orcas train jumped on the platform for the shows they perform in zoos. 'If the sea creatures are, and they do this spontaneously,' said the zoo director.

This game element also admits Sabrina Brando, she has an animal welfare consultancy, and conducted research on animals in zoos and 'Morgan has a little'. Brando saw Morgan's much discussed behavior, but says this is not unique. 'This kind of behavior I have seen at other orcas, so this play behavior by killer whales is not surprising,' says animal researcher. Jumping on the dry according Brando also common among orcas in nature.

Morgan taught before they went to Spain for the first time dealing with people in the Dolfinarium in Harderwijk. Spokesman Taco Rietveld says the trainers Morgan then the crazy behavior have not seen her, but 'it is difficult to judge from this distance if you have not visited.' Rietveld also finds it 'not deviant behavior' for a killer and finds that the Loro Parque has 'equal'. The video where Morgan slams her head against a fence, according to Rietveld would have a disciplinary background. For example, to stop an argument between animals, animals are sometimes separated.

About the current health of the pet orca nobody needs to worry anyway. 'Morgan is good weight, she is doing well and has no health problems,' concludes Javier Almunia.
