- Barcelona's sporting director Deco emphasizes the value of teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, stating that there is no price for the young talent's future at the club.

Barcelona's Deco on Lamine Yamal Future

Barcelona's sporting director Deco has made it clear that there is no amount of money that could secure the long-term future of teenage star Lamine Yamal at the Catalan club. Yamal, aged 17, has already garnered significant recognition in the world of football by winning the prestigious Kopa Trophy and the Golden Boy award, solidifying his status as one of the most promising young talents globally.

Deco expressed, 'There are key players, and he is one. There is no discussion, there is no price. There have been no offers because we didn't even want to talk about it.' The stance on retaining Yamal was further reinforced by Barça president Joan Laporta's revelation that a staggering €250 million offer for the player was turned down, following his instrumental role in Spain's triumph at Euro 2024.

Having made his debut for the first team at just 15 in 2023, Yamal has swiftly become a mainstay for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team. Deco confidently stated, 'He will surely be at Barça for many years, like Pedri and Gavi... They will all remain here. The club must do its homework, and he will be here for many years.'

Yamal, whose current contract expires in June 2026, is anticipated to extend his stay at the club until 2030 upon turning 18. His remarkable abilities have not gone unnoticed, with legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo predicting that Yamal will emerge as the standout player of the new generation. Deco, having played alongside Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, concurs with this assessment, describing Yamal as 'one of the special ones' possessing both exceptional talent and a unique mental capacity.

With 11 goals and 14 assists in 31 appearances for Barcelona this season, Lamine Yamal continues to showcase his immense potential and solidify his status as a rising star in the footballing world.
