Barcelona Forward Ansu Fati Joins Monaco on Season-Long Loan

Barcelona forward Ansu Fati, 22, has secured a season-long loan move to Monaco for the 2025-26 campaign. The Spanish club also announced the extension of Fati's contract until the end of the 2027-28 season.

Seeking Playing Time and Champions League Challenge

Fati's decision to join Monaco was influenced by the opportunity to play in France and compete in the prestigious Champions League, aiming to revitalize his career after limited game time at Barcelona in the past year.

Career Overview

Despite bursting onto the scene in 2019 as a 16-year-old, Fati faced setbacks due to injuries. Following a loan spell at Brighton in 2023, he returned to Barça last summer. With 29 goals in 123 appearances for Barcelona, Fati holds the record for the youngest Champions League scorer at 17 years and 40 days old.

He has represented Spain 10 times, scoring two goals, but has not featured for the national team since 2023.
