'Banking crisis in China threatens'

World March 12, 2018 13:15

- China is the biggest risk of a banking crisis for all countries. The Chinese debt measured in terms of GDP has passed the boundary that can lead to disruptions in the financial system.

This is the conclusion of the Bank of International Settlement in its quarterly report on the sector.

China has such a high level of debt that first of all banks are at risk. Canada and Hong Kong are also in the danger zone with their banks, according to the BIS. China and Hong Kong have recently imposed additional buffer requirements, but according to the BIS these are still insufficient to weaken the final conclusion.

The IMF warned in December as for the 'big tensions' in the financial system of China.
