Attack on checkpoint in Egyptian monastery
cairo - In an attack on a checkpoint near St. Catherine's Monastery in the Egyptian Sinai desert are definitely one death and four injuries. The victims were Egyptian soldiers.
It is unclear whether the attack was directed at the checkpoint, or that the monastery was the target. There's certainly heard one explosion.
According to the newspaper Haaretz Israel had earlier on Tuesday closed the border with Egypt on the recommendation of the anti-terror unit of the National Security Council.
Egypt was ten days ago, on Palm Sunday, shaken by attacks at two Coptic churches. Since then, increased protection of Christian sites.
