Athletic Club Re-signs Aymeric Laporte
Athletic Club has received FIFA's approval to bring back Aymeric Laporte after a transfer hiccup from Al Nassr. The initial paperwork delay led to FIFA blocking the move, but after the Spanish federation's intervention, Laporte is set to return to his former club.
FIFA's Decision
The world football governing body had originally rejected Laporte's transfer due to missing paperwork from Al Nassr before the Sept. 1 deadline. However, FIFA later granted permission for the Royal Spanish Football Federation to secure an International Transfer Certificate from the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.
Upon receiving the ITC, Laporte, a Euro 2024 champion with Spain, will be eligible to register with Athletic Club.
Laporte's Career
Laporte, 31, departed Athletic for Manchester City in 2018 and later joined Al Nassr in 2023. Now, the experienced center-back is poised to re-join Athletic Club with a new three-year deal.
