abuja, nigeria - At least 27 people have died in a boat accident near the Nigerian capital Abuja, with over 100 still missing. The boat, carrying around 200 passengers to a market in the state of Niger, capsized for unknown reasons. Rescue efforts are ongoing amidst challenging conditions.

At least 27 people have lost their lives in a tragic boat accident near Abuja, Nigeria. The overcrowded boat, en route to a market, suddenly capsized with around 200 passengers on board. The exact cause of the accident remains unclear, but local media suggest that the vessel may have been carrying too many passengers, a common issue in areas with limited maritime traffic.

Rescue teams have managed to recover the bodies of 27 victims so far, while more than 100 individuals are still unaccounted for. Despite extensive search efforts, no survivors have been found yet. Initial reports reveal that none of the passengers were wearing life jackets. According to the Associated Press, it took hours for rescue teams to locate the site of the capsized ship.
