Assassination Attempt on Libyan Minister

Libya's State Minister for cabinet affairs, Adel Juma, narrowly survived an assassination attempt when gunmen opened fire on his car in the capital city of Tripoli.

The government confirmed that Juma was injured but in stable condition after the attack. The National Unity Government strongly condemned the attack and stated that security forces have launched an investigation to uncover the perpetrators.

Libya has been plagued by various conflicts since the fall of the regime of the deposed leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. The current Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dibeybe heads the UN-backed Government of National Unity established in 2021.
