Arrests for terror threat in Essen

essen - The German police has done in Oberhausen two arrests in connection with the terrorist threat at a shopping center in Essen. That center is closed, because the police had concrete evidence of an imminent attack.

Meanwhile, the police searched the complex and the danger passed for an attack. Still, the center will remain closed until at least Monday.

Earlier in the day police raided a house in Oberhausen. The resident was arrested. Later still arrested a man in an Internet cafe in that place. As a precaution, the police patrol also in a shopping mall in Oberhausen.

According to the police force, the threat in Essen only for shopping on the Limbecker Platz in the center of town. However also closed the associated parking and access to the metro. Dozens of officers and other specialists involved in the investigation.

Limbecker Platz is two hundred shops one of the largest shopping centers in Germany. There is established a special emergency number for concerned citizens.
