washington - President Trump aims to imprison criminals among illegal migrants in the controversial Guantánamo Bay facility, known for holding 'worst of the worst' terrorists.

Trump's Controversial Plan

President Trump has initiated the transfer of illegal migrants to Guantánamo Bay, targeting those who have committed crimes. The facility, established by President George W. Bush in 2002, has a history of detaining terror suspects outside of U.S. legal jurisdiction. Despite promises from previous administrations to close the prison, it remains operational with 15 detainees, considered the most dangerous, hailing from various countries including Afghanistan, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia.

Among the detainees are individuals suspected of involvement in major terrorist acts such as the planning of 9/11 and the USS Cole bombing in 2000. Notably, Ali Hamza al-Bahlul, a key Al Qaeda figure, and Abd al-Hadi al Iraqi, convicted of war crimes in Afghanistan, are among the long-serving prisoners. The detention center at Guantánamo Bay, previously used for refugees, is set to be expanded by Trump for this purpose.

While concerns over human rights violations persist, particularly related to the use of 'black site' prisons and controversial interrogation methods, the plan to detain illegal migrants alongside terror suspects raises further ethical questions. The fate of these individuals and the implications of such a move remain subjects of debate and scrutiny.
