armenia - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan faces backlash over his comments on the 1915 Armenian Genocide, sparking outrage from political groups and civil society.

Armenian PM's Controversial Remarks

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's comments on the 1915 Armenian Genocide have caused a stir in Armenia and among Armenian diaspora groups.

In a speech in Zurich, Pashinyan questioned the awareness of the genocide up to the 1950s and called for a reevaluation of the historical events.

The remarks have drawn strong criticism from political and civil society organizations, with accusations of undermining the Armenian identity and rights.

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) condemned Pashinyan's statements, accusing him of bowing to Turkish and Azerbaijani pressures and disrespecting the memory of genocide victims.

International Armenian National Committee (ANC) labeled Pashinyan's comments as echoing Turkish and Azerbaijani arguments and described them as a form of insult to the innocent victims.

Think tank Genesis Armenia warned that Pashinyan's remarks signal a dangerous shift in Armenia's foreign policy and weaken the country's commitment to genocide recognition.
