Armed Gang Attack in Haiti

An armed gang attacked the town of Kenscoff near Port-au-Prince, resulting in 50 deaths and multiple injuries. Security forces have sent additional police reinforcements to the area due to inadequate security measures. According to an independent civil society organization in Haiti, the gangs burned down 100 houses in an attempt to seize control of the region. Haiti has been facing political, economic, and security crises for years, with over 5,000 people killed in armed gang attacks in 2024 alone.

Political Unrest in Haiti

Haiti, with a population exceeding 11 million, is facing a crisis with armed gangs controlling 80% of the capital. Former Prime Minister Ariel Henry resigned in April 2024 due to the escalating violence. The Interim Council appointed Garry Conille as the new Prime Minister, who was later replaced by businessman Alix Didier Fils-Aime. The country continues to grapple with political instability and violence.
