buenos aires - The Argentine police is looking into houses of former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. This is done in the context of a study of systematic corruption in the top of previous governments. Kirchner led the country from 2007 to 2015 and was the successor to her now deceased man Néstor Kirchner (1950-2010). She is now a senator.

The Senate gave special permission for the searches of three houses. Cristina Kirchner sought refuge in the home of her daughter Florencia in Buenos Aires, reported local media.

The investigation is known as the affair of the 'bribe'. 'It would be a corrupt network around the Kirchners that systematically collected kickbacks for ten years in exchange for government contracts. Kirchner has been interrogated on 13 August. Twelve people have already been arrested in this case.
