london - Striking new words in the Oxford English Dictionary (OED), say the English counterpart of our Dikke Van Dale. Some of the newcomers: man placement, hangry, masstige and swag.

In man's placement, a man explains something to a woman in an unnecessarily self-sufficient and haughty manner, with a condescending and chauvinistic attitude. According to the researchers, the term dates back to 2008, when it appeared in an Internet chat between a man and a woman, the BBC reports.

Hangy, irritable due to hunger, is being used more and more recently. The word, however, dates back to 1956 when it appeared in a scientific article.

Masstige is a combination of the words masses and prestige and refers to inexpensive products that are now being put on the market as luxurious.

The popular swag is also popular among Dutch youngsters. Swag is widely used to indicate that someone is confident and very cool. The term comes from one of the lyrics of rapper Jay-Z: 'My self-esteem went through the robbery, man. I got my swag. 'By the way, it is the sixth time that a term by Jay-Z has made it into a place in the OED, and the word has more meanings among young people.
