Apple removes New York Times app in China

beijing - Technology company Apple has in China removed the news app of The New York Times. According to the US newspaper the program since late December not to be found in the Chinese App Store. An Apple spokesman told the newspaper that the app has been removed by order of the Chinese authorities, because that would be contrary to 'local rules.'

The New York Times website is blocked in China for four years. The newspaper at that time was in a series of articles critical message about the extensive family wealth of the former Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.

Numerous other foreign media are blocked by Chinese censors, including websites of Reuters, the German world, the Deutsche Welle and the American newspaper Wall Street Journal. Social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Google services or websites critical of government policies and human rights are banned.
