Antony Turns Down Bayern Munich Move for Real Betis Return

Brazilian forward Antony has revealed that he declined a lucrative move to Bayern Munich to honor his promise to return to Real Betis, where he enjoyed a successful loan spell.

Bayern Munich's Late Attempt

Despite Bayern Munich's late attempt to sign Antony and double his wages, the player chose to stay true to his word and commitment to Betis.

Contract Extension with Real Betis

Antony signed a contract with Real Betis until June 2030 after clubs reached an agreement just before the transfer window closed, solidifying his future with the Spanish club.

Antony's Statement

Speaking to Cadena Cope radio in Spain, Antony expressed his contentment with the decision, emphasizing his respect and happiness at Real Betis and highlighting his desire to honor his promise.

The 25-year-old forward, who had a career revival at Betis, scored nine goals in 26 games and was instrumental in the club's UEFA Conference League final run.

Transfer Details and United's Involvement

Real Betis will pay a fixed fee of €22m with potential bonuses for Antony's permanent transfer, with Manchester United set to receive 50% of any future transfer fees.

Antony's departure from Old Trafford marks the end of a three-year spell where he struggled to meet expectations, leaving as the second most expensive signing behind Paul Pogba.
