Angry Maduro: sanctions US insult to Venezuela

caracas - Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro called the new sanctions that the US imposed on his country an affront to national dignity. According to Madura, the sanctions cause his people to suffer.

Caracas has given a top diplomat at the US embassy two days to leave the country shortly after the American measures became known. Chargé d'affaires Todd Robinson is suspected of conspiring against the Venezuelan government.

US President Donald Trump announced Monday the new sanctions against Venezuela. That happened a day after the presidential elections in the Central American country, where the incumbent president Nicolás Maduro was re-elected. The US does not recognize the result.
