paiporta, spain - Angry residents express their frustration as King Felipe, along with other officials, visit the flood-hit town of Paiporta.

On Sunday, angry residents in Paiporta threw mud and shouted 'murderer' at King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, and the president of the Valencia region, Carlos Mazón, during their visit to the flood-affected area. The king expressed understanding for the residents' anger, considering what they have been through.

Many Spaniards believe that the timing of the royal visit was inappropriate, especially because it was accompanied by the official they hold responsible for their current situation: regional president Carlos Mazón.

The area in and around Paiporta witnessed severe devastation, with hundreds of casualties and widespread destruction of homes. Residents feel abandoned as the relief efforts have been slow, primarily relying on volunteers rather than military or police support.

Not all protesters were locals, as revealed by Paiporta's mayor, who mentioned the presence of far-right youths who disrupted the visit with violent acts. Some individuals associated with the far-right party Vox took credit for assaulting Prime Minister Sánchez. Despite the chaos, King Felipe and Queen Letizia stood their ground, engaging in conversations with distressed residents.

The royal couple's visit was marred by tensions, but King Felipe remained determined to continue supporting affected communities, despite the risks involved.

While the Spanish monarchy has faced past scrutiny, King Felipe's reign has brought stability and transparency to the institution, garnering increased public support.
