houston - An American woman in Texas was clinically dead for 45 minutes after giving birth to healthy triplets via C-section. Doctors managed to revive her after a rare medical complication post-delivery.

An American woman from Texas faced rare medical complications after giving birth to healthy triplets via planned C-section, as reported by The New York Post. She became unresponsive and at one point was considered clinically dead until she regained consciousness after nearly an hour. 'We knew something terrible had happened,' said Dr. Ricardo Mora. 'She stopped breathing. We started resuscitation because she had no pulse.'

Meanwhile, the woman continued to lose blood. 'We replaced her total blood volume. So she was clinically dead for 45 minutes,' he said. She eventually came to and grew 'stronger and stronger'.

The 'catastrophic' medical incident following the removal of the placenta, an amniotic fluid embolism, would have been fatal in about eight out of ten cases. But doctors breathed a sigh of relief when 30-year-old Marisa Christie regained consciousness after the incident - not to mention her worried husband, Dylan, and their older son.

Being able to hold her three newborn babies in her arms felt 'surreal' to her. 'I remember thinking, 'I don't know these babies.' It was very strange,' she said. The delivery took place at the end of August.

Prior to the birth, it was not certain if there were actually three babies in the woman's belly. 'There might be a third child hidden,' she was told during a check-up before giving birth. 'I was totally in shock.'
