stockholm - Allegation of rape has been reported against Kylian Mbappé after his visit to Sweden. The incident is said to have taken place in a hotel in Stockholm.
Documents obtained by the Swedish SVT on Tuesday indicate that a rape allegation was filed after the visit of the football star to Sweden. Marina Chirakova, chief prosecutor at the Public Prosecutor's Office, stated that a rape report was filed on October 10 in a hotel in central Stockholm.
Swedish broadcaster TV4 added that the alleged victim sought treatment at a hospital department for rape victims on Saturday, where she claimed to have been sexually assaulted and pointed to Mbappé as the perpetrator.
The Swedish media is closely examining Mbappé's movements during his 48-hour flash visit to Stockholm, especially with reports emerging about an allegation of rape against the Real Madrid star.
Mbappé landed in Stockholm on Wednesday. Thursday evening, photos surfaced online of the Frenchman and his entourage leaving a luxury restaurant in the upscale part of Stockholm. He then reportedly moved to a nearby club, known as one of Sweden's most exclusive clubs, where he booked a private space for himself and thirty guests.
The rape incident reportedly occurred Thursday at a hotel located ten minutes from the club where Mbappé stayed during his visit. The police have been investigating the hotel since Saturday and have seized clothing items according to reports.
Mbappé left Sweden on Friday afternoon by a private jet, dismissing the news as 'fake news' and attributing it to the timing of a legal hearing in France between him and his former club Paris Saint-Germain over salary disputes.
Representatives of Mbappé had distanced themselves from the news earlier, considering it as 'defamatory rumor'. The allegations are deemed false and irresponsible by his representatives.
SVT reports that the suspicion against Mbappé is currently at the lowest level in the Swedish legal system and could evolve as more information becomes available.
