Azerbaijan President Aliyev met with the families of the two pilots and one flight attendant who lost their lives in the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane near Aktau, Kazakhstan, on December 25, 2024.

Aliyev emphasized the importance of the lives of each Azerbaijani citizen and called for justice, transparency, and humane treatment in the investigation of the incident.

The black boxes of the plane have been analyzed in Brazil, and it has been confirmed that the plane was rendered uncontrollable electronically from the ground and was damaged by ground-fired shots. Aliyev stated that the reason the plane was redirected to Aktau is still unknown.
