amsterdam - Putin's security is a matter of concern for his security guards following recent attacks. Learn more about the extensive security measures in place to protect the Russian President.

Putin's security is managed by two security services that can mobilize a vast number of personnel. The largest is the FSO, with 50,000 personnel, significantly larger than the U.S. Secret Service. This service is responsible for safeguarding the president and other high officials of the Kremlin. However, a significant portion of the security guards also monitor each other, as the fear of defectors and traitors is high.

Additionally, there is the SBP, responsible for the personal security of the president. These bodyguards form the inner circle of Putin's security, always surrounding him. Armed with special pistols capable of neutralizing threats up to 50 meters away, they also carry kevlar screens in the form of foldable bags or umbrellas, allowing them to swiftly erect a bulletproof shield around the president.

Not much is known about the services' operations, but since the conflict in Ukraine, two defected FSO employees have shed light on the matter. Gleb Karakoelov fled in early 2023. He oversaw the president's communication security within Putin's security team but no longer wanted to bear that responsibility after the invasion of Ukraine.

According to Karakoelov, Putin is 'pathologically fearful of his life'. Having accompanied Putin on over 180 trips as part of the advance team, he stated, 'I never saw him with a mobile phone; all information he receives comes from those around him. He lives in an information vacuum,' as informed to Dossier Center, established by Russian dissident Mikhail Khodorkovsky.

Another former FSO member, Vitalli Brizjatji, revealed details. As a dog handler, he guarded the president. Brizjatji claimed that even Putin's guards were misled about his whereabouts, with false information given to them stating he was resting at his residence, diverting their attention while he was elsewhere.

The Russian leader goes to great lengths to conceal his location. His primary palaces in Sochi, Novo-Ogarjovo, and St. Petersburg feature reception rooms identical in the smallest detail, preventing specific identification from leaked images.

Despite efforts to keep the president's location secret, it becomes impossible during public appearances. Precautions are taken, analyzing all potential threats, from criminals in the vicinity to the risk of social unrest or natural disasters.

Over a month in advance, a team collaborates with local police and security services, meticulously inspecting the accommodation where the president will stay. Everything must be flawlessly arranged to avoid unexpected repairs and associated security risks.

On-site, a team of technicians block all radio signals around the president to prevent remotely triggered explosives. Since 2023, Putin wears a bulletproof vest at public events, even during the May 9th parade commemorating victory over Nazi Germany.

Within Russia, Putin prefers traveling by armored train, painted in standard Russian colors to blend in. He avoids planes, as they are easily traceable through radar and prone to accidents.

When flying, such as visiting his Crimea residence in Oljva, Putin's arrival is simultaneously announced at two different nearby airports.

When traveling abroad, a specially trained team accompanies Putin to ensure no health details leak. His waste samples are collected and transported in special containers to Moscow, keeping foreign agencies unaware of his health.

Both domestically and internationally, the president travels with his personal chef and food, with a group of officers overseeing every meal before it reaches him.
