Agent prevents bloodbath at school VS

springfield - An American agent shot a teenager who opened fire in a high school in the state of Illinois.

The police chief in Dixon said that the 'heroic action' of the policeman saved 'countless' lives, reports US media Thursday.

A 19-year-old man fired his weapon in the Dixon High School on Wednesday, but met the policeman. 'While shots were heard in the corridors of the school, he rushed at the suspect,' said the police chief. The shooter fired several bullets at the agent, who shot back and put the man out.

School students and school staff had locked themselves up in classrooms during the shooting. They remained unharmed. The suspect, a former high school student, was transferred to a hospital.
