Again ship full of migrants on their way to Spain

barcelona - The Spanish government has again granted permission to a rescue ship to bring migrants into a Spanish port. The Spanish aid organization Proactiva announced Sunday morning that its ship the Open Arms is welcome in the port of Barcelona.

The Open Arms picked up sixty migrants from the sea on Saturday morning for the Libyan coast. Italy and Malta immediately announced that they would not open a port for the ship. The crew then asked the Spanish authorities for help, after which Barcelona offered. The mayor of the Catalan city, Ada Colau, said on Twitter that he did not want to be complicit in 'the deadly policy' of Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini.

Two weeks ago the Aquarius, another rescue ship, was allowed to moor in Valencia. Then it involved more than 600 refugees and migrants. They too were not welcome in Italy and Malta. The Open Arms is expected in Barcelona on Wednesday.
