Again attacked French guards

bastia - On the fifth day of protests by French prison guards for safer working conditions, more personnel and better payment, two jailers in Corsica were attacked with at least one detainee by a stabbing weapon. French media reports that the guards with serious injuries to the head and throat have been transferred from the Borgo prison to a hospital in Bastia.

The perpetrator and two presumably complicit inmates have entrenched themselves in a cell, according to French media. The actions of the guards started last Monday with blockades of dozens of penitentiaries. Four days earlier, in the North French prison of Vendin-le-Vieil, three jailers were wounded when a convicted terrorist attacked them with a stabbing weapon.
