Abe urges UN urgent consultation on North Korea

tokio - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has asked for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on North Korea. The reason was the launch of a suspected intercontinental ballistic missile by Pyongyang. The projectile landed in the Japanese Sea, a few hundred kilometers off the coast. Abe promised to protect the Japanese population.

The new missile test, after a two-month breather, was not strictly rejected by Tokyo. The US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who supports Abe's request, immediately condemned provocation and called on all countries to continue unanimously with the economic sanctions against the Kim Jong-un regime.
