9-Month-Old Baby Found Crawling on Road

In a remote area of Ecuador, a passerby discovered a 9-month-old baby crawling on a sparsely trafficked road, following the murder of the baby's mother in Santa Elena province. The Ecuadorian National Police confirmed that the body found nearby belonged to the baby's mother. Further investigation revealed that the 28-year-old mother, Rosa Yanina Vargas, was shot dead by unknown assailants who ambushed her. The baby, after receiving medical check-ups, was entrusted to the care of the grandmother, as the baby's father had passed away a few months ago due to illness. Ecuador, grappling with a surge in violent incidents since last year, has witnessed 700 homicides since the beginning of this year. The police have launched a large-scale operation to apprehend the perpetrators.
