- Starbucks will close 8,000 stores in the United States on Tuesday, May 29, to train nearly 175,000 employees in the field of anti-racism. The coffee chain therefore wants to prevent its customers from being discriminated against.
The reason for the anti-racism training is the arrest of two blacks last week at a Starbucks branch in Philadelphia. The manager of the branch had called the police because the two dark men in the shop were waiting for a friend.
Many dozens of people protested for the Starbucks site the last few days. They demanded the dismissal of the manager. That was finally fired by Starbucks.
