uttarakhand, india - Rescue operation in Uttarakhand, India, following a snow avalanche has concluded with 46 workers rescued and 8 casualties.

Rescue Operation in Uttarakhand Concludes

In Uttarakhand, India, a 60-hour search and rescue operation following a snow avalanche has ended with 46 workers rescued and 8 casualties. The operation, which faced challenging conditions in the Himalayas, located the steel containers where the workers were trapped.

The Indian Army, along with state teams, utilized drones and helicopters extensively during the search efforts. Of the 54 workers trapped, 46 were rescued alive while the bodies of 8 individuals were recovered. The rescued workers have been transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed gratitude to the rescue teams for their efforts under harsh conditions.

The snow avalanche on February 28 in the Himalayas had trapped 54 workers involved in a highway widening project in 8 containers and 1 barracks, triggering a large-scale search and rescue operation.
