wurzburg - The German musician Marten Laciny, better known as rapper Marteria, was found guilty of animal abuse, in this case a fish. According to the media, he pays a fine of 5000 euros. The 35-year-old artist likes to throw a fishing rod in his spare time and did so successfully last year in May after a gig in Würzburg. He pulled a big carp on the side, posed for a few seconds and then let the beast slip back into the water.

The video that he put on YouTube as proof under the title 'One Night in Würzburg' attracted the attention of his fans, but also of the animal rights organization Peta. He filed a complaint because Marteria by 'catch and release', as the procedure is officially called, has given the fish 'considerable, persistent pain and suffering', purely as a hobby.

According to Tanja Breining from Peta, hooking, showering and restoring for fish mean huge stress and injuries. 'Many of those traumatized animals die as a result of this torture. 'The perpetrator bowed his head and found a settlement for five mille. Because of his stay abroad he could not respond on Friday.
