150 houses London underwater
london - In the north of the British capital London on Sunday 150 homes flooded after a break in a water main. About 350 residents had to leave their homes in Stoke Newington, reports The Guardian. The fire department came to the rescue with inflatable boats and put sandbags down to limit the damage.
It is the third time within a week that a water main has jumped in London. This happened Saturday in Blackheath in southeastern and Monday in Islington in north London. The director of water company Thames Water spoke of an 'extremely difficult week', especially for the customers, so shortly before Christmas.
The water company is investigating the cause of the pipeline ruptures. Some water pipes in London are 'thick over a hundred years old,' said director Bob Collington.
