abuja - An estimated quarter of a million children malnourished strongly in the Nigerian state of Borno. According to the UN children's organization UNICEF will be approximately 49,000 children die as there is no extra help. That's 1 in 5 children.

Borno State is located in the northeast of Nigeria, where the terrorist organization Boko Haram is in power. UNICEF wants everyone participates in a humanitarian operation to bring food to the region. According to Manuel Fontaine, UNICEF Regional Director for West and Central Africa, about 134 children die every day as there is no intervention.

Fontaine has just returned from the field and looked completely devastated villages. Homeless families have to survive without food, water or sanitation. Thousands of children have therefore become so malnourished that they can die any time.
