France is going to loan the Bayeux Tapestry to the British. The battle of Hastings is depicted on the 76-meter-long and half-meter high embroidery. That is the Norman invasion led by William the Conqueror in 1066, allowing the English to become themselves, as some English media describe it.
Britain is going to make greater efforts to tackle the problem with refugees around the French port of Calais. The country will, among other things, speed up the procedures to allow people who have the right to do so.
On June 10, 1944- shortly after D-Day- Trévières was liberated in Normandy by soldiers of the American 2nd Division. Soldier first class Fred Linden was on the occasion with a happy young resident of the French town on the picture.
