Yet another ship hijacked Somalia

Somali pirates for the first time in years running.

Sailing tanker, the Aris 13 under the banner of Sri Lanka, is to all appearances attacked by pirates and towed to the coast of the Somali region of Puntland. Since anonymous officials confirmed that a ship was hijacked. It would be the way to Alula in the far north of the country.

The European naval mission to act against piracy in the region, NAVFOR, investigating the case. Aircraft NAVFOR have traced the vessel.

Piracy has long been a scourge for the long coast of Somalia, a country fell into anarchy in 1991. In the heyday of piracy, in 2011, there were nearly 240 attacks on ships, especially in the Gulf of Aden. Taking hundreds of sailors were taken hostage. According to Oceans Beyond Piracy cost the piracy that year more than 6.5 billion euros. That loss was borne 80 percent by the shipping companies.
