Xinjiang tracks all cars on the foot

All vehicles in the Bayingol region in the western Chinese province of Xijiang must be equipped with satellite tracking systems for July 1st.

' Cars are the main mode of transport for terrorists and are often used to commit terrorist attacks, '' the traffic police Bayingol wrote earlier this month on the microblog Weibo. With the tracking system based on China's own Beidou navigation satellites cars ' be followed everywhere, '' the state newspaper Global Times reported Tuesday. Also owners can retrieve their car quickly if it is stolen by terrorists.

Cars that are not of the required systems are provided are from July 1 no longer operated at filling stations in Bayingol. They may also be sold no longer used.
